Learning with Dyslexia.

Dyslexia is just like any other learning style/difference when it comes to the way people learn. Everyone is a little different when it comes to learning English. With Dyslexia there is a unique thing which is that Dyslexia actually affects the part of the brain that helps with written and auditory memorization.

Dyslexia

I didn’t fully understand this at the time but Orton Gillingham is a type of teaching developed in the early 20th century based off of phonetics which is the way something sounds. This type of teach relies heavily on memorization which is especially hard for people who are dyslexic.

Dyslexia and the Brain

The parietal lobe is located farther back in the brain on the left side especially and controls sensory perceptions as well as linking spoken and written language to memory to give it meaning so we can understand and remeber what we hear and read.
